He was aged 100.
Akinola died on Sunday evening at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
He had been on admission for an undisclosed ailment.
Th late cleric will be buried on Monday according to Islamic rites.
Akintola once worked with the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc.
